| Share price at entry | Touched +20% within 30 sessions |
|---|---|
| Under Rs 5 | 33.3% |
| Rs 5 to 15 | 26.9% |
| Rs 15 to 50 | 19.8% |
| Rs 50 to 200 | 15.2% |
| Rs 200 and above | 12.3% |
The gradient is clean and it runs the whole way: a sub-Rs-5 share touched +20% nearly three times as often as a Rs 200+ share.
Two things are true at once here, and most people only hold the first.
The first: a low-priced share needs a smaller rupee move to travel 20%. A Rs 4 share needs 80 paisa. A Rs 400 share needs Rs 80.
The second, which is the one that costs money: the same arithmetic runs downward, the spread is a larger share of the price, and a Rs 3 share falling to Rs 2.40 is the identical 20% you were hoping to earn. ZEME's own cost work puts the round-trip drag on thin, low-priced names at a level that erases several points of edge before you begin.
So this is not "buy cheap shares". It is: if you are hunting a 20% move, the sub-Rs-15 shelf is where they statistically live - and it is also where being wrong costs most. Size accordingly.
Measured: 33.3% of 1,090 sub-Rs-5 stock-months touched +20%, against 12.3% of 6,899 for shares above Rs 200.
