This tutorial gets your chart set up once, properly. Everything after this lesson assumes this layout. Open SuperCharts in a second tab and follow along.
Step 1, load a stock
Type the symbol in the search box. Use KOHTM for this tutorial so your screen matches the examples.
Step 2, set the range to one year
Shorter ranges hide the level that matters most on PSX: the 52-week high. Our measurement found a close above it was the strongest classic signal in the Academy, 1.91× and 1.29×, and you cannot see it on a three-month chart.
Step 3, add exactly six things
SuperCharts carries 102 indicators. You are adding six. The reasoning is in The ZEME Toolkit: loading more has never once, in our testing, produced a better base rate.
- 20-day moving average, the reference for "extended"
- 200-day moving average, a qualifier, never a trigger (it measured 1.00× alone)
- Volume, the difference between a 1.63× breakout and a 1.13× one
- Bollinger Bands. You will watch the upper band, not the squeeze
- RSI. Read high values as persistence, not as a warning
- Circuit levels. The PSX-specific one, explained below
Step 4, turn on circuit levels
This is the setting that matters most on this exchange and that generic charts do not have.
PSX caps a day's move at roughly previous close + max(10%, Rs 1). Without the cap drawn, a stock that stopped rising because it was not allowed to rise looks identical to one that stopped because sellers arrived. Those are opposite situations.
When you see price pinned exactly at the upper line on heavy volume, that is an upper lock, demand exceeded what the exchange permitted that day. It is not the same as a stock stalling.
Step 5, save the layout
So you never rebuild it. Every subsequent lesson assumes this exact screen.
What you should be looking at
Price with two averages, a volume pane, bands around price, an RSI pane, and two horizontal circuit lines. If your chart has more than that, remove things until it does.
The discipline this enforces: an indicator earns its place by answering a question you actually have. Anything on the chart "because it is standard" is decoration you are paying attention for.
Do this now, practical activity
- Build the layout above on SuperCharts with KOHTM loaded.
- Save it.
- Now load PRL without changing anything. The layout should carry over.
- If it did not, fix that now. The rest of this tutorial depends on it.
Measured: SuperCharts carries 102 indicators; this layout uses 6. Of the ones omitted, moving-average position alone measured 1.00×, the Bollinger squeeze 0.88×/0.90× and support-buying 0.86×/0.87× across 67,098 point-in-time observations.
